The Universe Has a Cold Spot
by Kim Wall

According a recent article, the universe has a cold spot that “could have formed shortly after the Big Bang”.[1] British and Spanish scientists detected the spot on satellite maps of CMB (cosmic microwave background) radiation. Untold billions of dollars are spent on researching the origins of the universe from an evolutionary perspective. What is the result? Let's just see what tangible results have come from this particular study....

  • "cosmic glitch"
  • "MIGHT be a cosmic defect"
  • "theory would NEED CONFIRMATION"
  • "they THEORIZE"
  • "IF the cold spot"
  • "subject of MANY THEORIES"
  • "IF this texture theory is PROVEN"
  • "They're CLAIMING they've found"
  • "he would LIKE MORE PROOF"
  • "The evidence is encouraging, but FAR FROM COMPELLING"

Well, I guess that just about seals it for me!

What's really interesting here is that scientists maintain their belief that the universe formed through the Big Bang "some 14 billion years ago". They base this largely on trigonometric parallax the speed of light, and red-shifted light from the most distant galaxies. These galaxies are 14 billion light years away (so, it would supposedly take light 14 billion years to reach Earth). Sounds logical. But what the public never hears is that the universe is now considered to have a topology scale of 78 billion light years![2] That would put the diameter of the known universe at 156 billion light years across. This is over five times the previously stated diameter. This data was originally published in 2004 and comes from an analysis of data from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP).

Using their same logic, the universe must be at least 78 billion years old in order to give the light enough time to reach Earth. But you do not hear of this figure because it completely destroys the carefully crafted time-lines scientists have developed for the origination of the universe and for life! A 78 billion year-old universe is infinitely more difficult to explain because there should be much less cosmological activity by now. Everything should be old, dead, and cold. Obviously, the universe abounds with activity and is not dead, and is not an ice cycle – and is not old!

Evolutionists often criticize creationists because they think they have no explanation as to how light could have enough time to travel 14 billion light years to reach Earth from the outer-most galaxies. However, they have a light problem of their own. They maintain that the universe is no older than 14 billion years. If this is true, then how are we able to see light from galaxies 78 billion light years from Earth? The problem is worse when considering the smooth, isotropic cosmic background radiation which we observe in the universe. There is no way for parts of the universe that are now more than a few degrees away in the sky to come to the same temperature and thus emit the same amount of microwave radiation.[3] In other words, in a 14 billion-year-old universe, there is not enough time for the temperature to reach equilibrium (i.e. for heat to travel across the 156 billion light year diameter). But the public hears nothing of this problem.

The answer, of course, is to start with the Bible! Our scientific models must begin with truth or we will never come to the correct conclusion. This means that the universe has a center and that Earth is at or very near that center. This would place the Earth in a gravitational well and would have an immense effect on the rate of clocks for far away objects.[4] In other words, light would have plenty of time to reach Earth on day 4 of creation. While an ordinary 24-hour day was happening on Earth (Earth standard time), billions of years worth of time would be elapsing elsewhere in the universe (from Earth's perspective – but from the far object's perspective, time would appear ordinary). Gravitational time dilation is not theory. It is not speculation. It is operational science. We have observed this phenomenon taking place today. Einstein predicted it and it was later verified. It's called Relativity.[5]

Furthermore, within the past month, evolutionary scientists have publicly admitted that Earth appears to be at "the center" of the universe (creationists have known about this data since the 80's – but the Bible first gave us the idea).[6] This completely destroys the theory of the Big Bang (there can be no center in the Big Bang model). The probability of us being so close to the center by accident is less than one out of a quadrillion, implying we are where we are as a result of purposeful design. It’s not likely something that you will hear about on the 6:00 news, nor will our children's text books be changed anytime soon (there are still mistakes in them today which were thrown out of science 50 years ago!).

The inhabitants of Earth can sleep better tonight knowing that scientists have a solid handle on where we come from and how it all started. Perhaps people can now forget about their eternal destinies because a cold spot has been detected in the universe. Don’t worry about the immense problems with the Big Bang – a "cosmic glitch" has been discovered which will somehow prove that there is no God!

The evidence is "far from compelling" indeed.
